1.1 Read the DEECD's OHS Risk Management Procedure
a. What are the duties of DEECD employees in relation to OHS or WHS?
b. Definitions (complete as we meet them)
What do these initials mean and what are their duties?
1.2 Look at the accompanying cartoon courtesy of HSC Online NSW and identify as many hazards as you can see. Check the original. How many did you find?
1.3 a. Again, view the cartoon above. What suggestions can you make to correct these hazards?
b. As a staff member you report on the possible hazards to whom?
c. Read DEECD's and Dimboola Memorial Secondary College's emergency management plans and guidelines (and this site) and list 5 hazards likely to be found at a school and note the risk and the safety measures/action needed.

You are an ESO and you have a bad fall during class time, tripping over a fast moving student. It occurred in the corridor rand you were taking a student to see the Quick Smart teacher. Your accident was reported to Mr Brian May, the Principal.
1.6 Read the site on workplace computer usage.
Use a PNI to analyse this document. While students can be expected to find many examples in all columns, try just 2 in each.

2.1
What procedures are there for health and safety information to be shared in the work place? (OHS Risk Management Procedure page 2, 4)
2.2
a. Whose duty is it to see that less experienced members understand WHS practices? (OHS Risk Management Procedure – page 8)
b. Using the Safe work procedure template advise the man in the photograph (see above) as to the seriousness of his risk and then complete the form.
c. Refer to OHS Risk Management Procedure (the colour chart) and rate one of the potential hazards that you have listed down in Question 1.3.c.
2.3 Provide guidance and coaching to the less experienced member (the man in the photograph) of the workgroup to support him in working safely
2.4 If it is appropriate, support others accurately by recording incidents and complete associated workplace documentation according to organisation procedures

3. Contribute to WHS Participative process
3.1
You are attending a WHS Meeting. Raise concerns arising from man in the photograph by describing how you felt about what you saw, using a Y chart (see above) Contribute one from each segment to our blog.
From the group response write a sentence detailing your reaction to the man’s actions in the photograph.
3.2
Using the free WHS template (Basic workplace inspection checklist) inspect the HUB building’s public spaces and determine a Risk Rating of something you find there. Use the coloured template in OHS Risk Management Procedure page 6.
3.3
How valuable do you think it is to formally recognise employee contribution to WHS and to provide incentives for compliance? Discuss the advantages and disadvantages and share your ideas with the group on the blog.
4. Contribute to hazard identification, WHS risk assessment and risk control activities.
4.1
What are the time frames for reporting hazards? – see chart Risk Rating Procedures (see OHS Risk Management Procedure)
4.2 Check the workplace for hazards using itemised checklist(s) in accordance with work procedures

4.3 Contribute to risk assessments by using the blog to explain to explain what to you is the most worrying risk.
4.4 Provide input to development and implementation of control measures, with reference to the hierarchy of risk control
Review the photos on the blog and relate what action would you take in relation to the pictures? Write a brief answer on the blog in the appropriate post.
5. Participate in the control of emergency situations.

Create a to do list of what you would do if you were responsible for the induction of new staff into the organization.
Consider aims, risk levels, safety signs, key abbreviations, common dangers, legislative requirements, employer responsibilities, employee responsibilities etc.
Accompany your project with six WHS related pictures that you have found on the net, from newspapers or ones you have taken to illustrate relevant parts of WHS.
